It has been a rough night that’s for sure. I get all kinds of strange nights, but last night was one of the weirder ones. You see I work the late shift at a pizza parlor, and I am taking over delivery for a sick coworker instead of working the register as I usually do. I cycle up to the apartment that’s listed on the bill and knock on their door. The customer doesn’t answer so I knock harder.
“Your pizza’s here!”
The door slowly creaks open. The lights are all off, almost like a horror movie, and I take a step back in surprise.
“Uhm… hello?”
Unnerved, I turn to get the heck out of there, when I hear something moving. I look back in the house, and some pale little girl is standing there, nearly invisible in the dark.
“Oh, haha, I didn’t see you there. Here’s your pizza, little girl. You ordered and paid online, so you’re good to go!”
I turned around to leave and next thing I know I’m waking up on the ground this feeling of dread and I don’t know maybe an emptiness. Like something is missing. But there is also a feeling of euphoria mixed in with it.
“Are you ok, mister? You fainted, do you want me to call DocWagon? My mom worked there once.”
“No, no..I’ll be okay..I think.”
Must have been a trick of the light, she doesn’t seem nearly so pale as I first thought. Now that is a weird thought to come into my head at a time like this.
As I bike back to the pizza parlor, I keep hoping that I’ll have to deliver another pizza to that apartment. Hopefully soon.
